Every time you junk your computer, laptop or mobile phone for a trendier model, it's boom time for the over 1,150 registered IT companies and 1.5 lakh-odd professionals in Bangalore. But every time that happens, India's Silicon Plateau groans under the weight of a growing mound of electronic or e-waste. A study conducted by Saahas for HAWA (Hazardous Waste Management in Karnataka) on the current disposal trends for e-waste in the City found that India's premier IT hub generates around 6,000 tonnes annually.
