Nestling serenely in midst of verdant hillocks of Arthimugam Reserve Forest, the Ungatti lake in Doripalli panchayat of Hosur division is a sight to behold and an example of what positive human intervention can do to ecological conservation. Not surprisingly , the village won national honours in 2001, when the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests gave it the Indira Priyadarshimi Vrikshamitra Award for best afforestation undertaken by the Forest Department . The construction of two percolation ponds and the intensive afforestation have boistered Ungatti's claim to the status of an eco-tourism destination.
