The Himachal Pradesh government's recent decision in the state for lining its cash-starved coffers has upset environmentalists and politicians in the state. As per the decision, green trees will be allowed to be axed. This will be more in the nature of culling - making way for regeneration of the forests by doing away with the old trees - in selective dense forest areas which do not allow regeneration.
