NEW DELHI: North Delhi Power Limited has been awarded the Edison Award by Edison Electric Institute of the United States for its operational excellence in the power industry and for utilising and integrating its Geographical Information System (GIS) with other applications for network planning, operations, commercial and asset management. The prestigious annual award is given to international as well as American electric companies for outstanding contributions to advancement of the power industry. Accepting the award on behalf of NDPL in Toronto on Monday, Chief Executive Officer Sunil Wadhwa said: "It's a tremendous achievement for NDPL to have won this award. It is a testimony of our commitment and dedication to provide world class services to our consumers using the latest technology. The GIS has been of immense help in achieving several milestones in the power distribution operations.' According to NDPL Chairman Adi Engineer, distribution reforms were most critical for transformation of the power sector in India. "Our achievements over the past six years in North Delhi have finally won international recognition by way of the coveted Edison Electric Award. We now look forward to playing a larger role in improving power distribution in other cities of India,' he added.
