The Lok Jumbish(LJ) project, aiming at total literacy in Rajasthan, has been much apperciated but the style of functioning of its former chairman has generated controversy. The LJ worked as an autonomous organisation under Mr. Anil Bordia since its launch in 1992 with 50 per cent of Rs 300 crore allocation coming from the Swedish International Developments Agency (SIDA), 30 per cent from the Centre and 20 per cent from the State. In the aftermath of Pokhran blasts in May 1998 SIDA withdrew its share and trouble started over release of funds, supply of books and teaching aids and appointments.
