An adverse affect on irrigation in Uttar Pradesh is visible due to lack of rain water this year. Due to decrease in the level of rainfall, 41% water shortage was registered in Ganga, 36% in Yamuna, 32% in Sharda and 26% in Gandak. Water supply has also been affected due to this, but the situation would change as the water available for irrigation would increase following the melting of ice on the hills.
