One person was feared dead and atleast 36 homes were destroyed as bushfires engulfed Australia's national capital Canberra, on Jan 18 overwhelming attempts at containment. Fire authorities fear the number of destroyed houses could be at least double in what officials say is the worst national disaster to hit the city.
