The Planing Commission is working on an emergency plan to tackle the environmental damage caused by the flowering of bamboo, expected to take place in 2003, 40 years after the last flowering season during 1961-65. "The flowering of bamboo s always accompanied by forest fires, rodent menace and famine causing large-scale damage to crops and environment and to tackle this the Commission is working on an emergency plan," member, Planning Commission DN Tewari said.
