India should opt for modern technologies in opencast mines to maximise production economically. This view emerged at the inaugural sesson here today of an international conference on opencast mining. Organised by The Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI), the conference was inaugurated by the West Bengal Governor, Dr. A.R. Kidwai. It would conclude on June 11.
