The historic Deopahar where historical ancient ruins of the 11th century are lying near NRL complex within Golaghat district, was once a place for the deities. In Assam History written by Sir Edward Gait the Deopahar is mentioned as Deoparbat. Deopahar is still covered with deep forests and recently the area has been declared by the Assam government as a reserve forest.
