Panchayat-level monitoring cell to be floated
Having received clear cut assurances from the State government on majority of issues pertaining to the complex relief and rehabilitation package, the Endosulfan Peedhitha Janakeeya Munnani (EPJM) is now trying to evolve a mechanism to ensure that the authorities implemented the decisions in a time-bound manner.
The EPJM convened a people’s meeting at the Town Cooperative Bank hall here on Tuesday, where a consensus was reached to float a panchayat level monitoring cell by involving all voluntary agencies to provide feedback and inputs on the ground level situation in respective localities.
The speakers at the meeting also mooted the idea of setting up a central office here under the EPJM to facilitate and coordinate the ongoing relief and rehabilitation programmes assured by the State government during the March 25 talks.
Another meeting
The meeting decided to convene another convention here on April 19 to finalise the follow-up action.. The speakers congratulated the EPJM for staging the agitation in a peaceful manner.
Organic farming
The meeting also gave thrust to promote organic farming in the district by forcing the authorities to offer matching subsidies to farmers going back to organic farming methods.
Among those who attended the meeting include EPJM convener Ambalathara Kunhikrishnan, D. Mohan Kumar, the senior physicial, Gro Vasu, Moin Bappu, Woman activist and Anveshi president K. Ajitha.
