VIRUDHUNAGAR: Distribution and retail sale of Endosulfan pesticide have been banned, Virudhunagar Collector, V.K. Shanmugam has said. In a statement, the Collector said that the Supreme Court had given interim injunction on sale of the pesticide on May 13. All the pesticide retail outlets have been warned against the sale of Endosulfan. Another pesticide Similarly, the Union Government had banned production of another pesticide, Lindane. This pesticide could be sold only till March 24, 2013. Hence, the retail outlets should avoid procurement of Lindane, he said.
