Ensure Production From Singaji Power Project by 2012: Shukla

Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Rajendra Shukla inspected the 1200 MW Singaji Thermal Power Project under construction in Khandwa district today. After the inspection the minister convened a meeting of the concerned officers and representatives of the construction agencies. Rajendra Shukla said that power production is the topmost priority of the state government. He said that the state government is directly involved in Singaji Power Project. This should be completed within the time limit to make it an ideal for other projects. He told the officers to see that the power plant starts production in the year 2012. He expressed pleasure over speed of the construction works going on at the project site and said that as per time-bound plan production of electricity will be increased. At the same time, he said, through feeder separation works, electricity will be supplied to the rural areas according to demand. Chief Engineer of Sri Singaji Power Project A K Chandel informed that under the project all designs have been given to the construction company. He said that by October 2012 first unit of the project will start production of 610 MW and by December 2012 the second unit will also start producing 610 MW. So far, he said, works of Rs. one thousand crore have been completed. Inspection of Project Site Rajendra Shukla inspected the project site thoroughly. He reached Dongalia Village on Purni Road and inspected the civil works of boiler, foundation and Unit 1 and 2. He told the B H E L officers to finish the foundation work of machines at any rate by March 2011. He also inspected the balance of plant (BOP) like ash and coal handling plant, chimney and cooling tower works. He asked the construction agencies to speed up the works. During the inspection local MLA Lokendra Singh Tomar, District Antyodaya Committee's Surendra Tuteja, Executive Director P R G and Power Project, BHEL, Gamon India and L & T officers were present. Singaji Thermal Power Project First Phase 1200 MW Sri Singaji Thermal Power Project First Phase (2 x 600 MW) is being set up at Village Domalia in Khandwa district. Expected cost of the project is Rs 6750 crore. The expense is being met by 80 per cent loan from Power Finance Corporation and the remaining 20 per cent share capital is being borne by the state government. The main machineries of the project are being constructed by the B H E L. Construction of balance of plant is being done by the L & T Power Company. According to an agreement with B H E L, the target to complete the work of Unit 1 and 2 is by July 2011 and November 2011 respectively.
