Environment Day at Intercontinental Resort

Intercontinental the Grand Goa Resort, Rajbagh Canacona recently celebrated the World Environment Day with various activities and programmes on its large property. Besides a beach cleaning drive, where the entire one kilometer stretch was cleaned by about 50 staff and the executives of the resort, a tree plantation drive was also held, where about 500 different varieties of various spice, herbal and fruit-bearing plants were grown. The resort planted about 100 coconut saplings, 100 nutmeg graft plants, 100 cloves saplings, 100 cinnamon saplings, 100 all spice saplings, besides other flowering plants. Around 4500 varieties of other plants like black pepper, areca nuts, some exotic flowering plants, casurinas, bougainvillas, ficus, bamboos, etc. are planned to plant during the current monsoon season. The General Manager Shrikant Wakharkar and the Resident Manager Vikram Antao supervised the daylong operation. The tree plantation team was led by the horticulture Manager R B Dalvi.
