Environment film festival underway in Maldives

MALE, January 29 (HNS) – An Indian NGO, Terry Policy, and the Maldives Housing and Environment Ministry kicked off a film festival on Thursday, aimed at creating awareness about environmental issues.
The “Safe Planet Film Festival”, which will end this evening, will screen feature documentaries, short movies and interviews with experts, for parents and students. The film festival is also open to the public.
Documentaries to be screened at the festival include Oscar-winning ‘The Cove’ and ‘The Eleventh Hour’.
The festival is being held with assistance from the Indian High Commission in the Maldives, Maldives Entertainment Company and MNBC One. Environment Minister Mohamed Aslam, the Indian High Commissioner and senior officials from UNEF and MEC attended the opening ceremony.
