The Environment ministry has approached the finance ministry for a reduction in import duty for compressed natural gas(CNG) kits which is being considered as a cleaner alternative fuel.At present CNG kits attract about 70 per cent importy duty forcing car owners to shell out an additional Rs 30,000 to switch to this technology.
