A team of the Wild Life Conservation Society (WLCS) led by M K Shivabhadrasinhji, a birds' expert, recently visited inland and coastal wetlands in this region as a part of the Asian waterfowl census 1998. The society stated that the International waterfowl Research Bureau, London carries out the world-wide census every January so as to monitor the impact of changing environment in different countries on migratory birds.
