Environmentalists call for moratorium on new logging to save forests

Two international environmental groups called for a moratorium on new logging in Papua New Guinea, claiming the national forestry management plan had failed. Greenpeace and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) said unless Papua New Guinea's National Forest Plan was rewritten, there would be insufficient resources to sustain the logging industry beyond the next 10 to 15 years.
