ERODE: In the backdrop of frequent power cuts and increasing power costs, the Erode Corporation has decided to go in for energy-saving bulbs. The Corporation will install 45 street lights on medians on EVN Road and another 100 in places across the city. The Corporation will fit the bulbs, which, it says, come with T5 technology, in 4X24 and 5X24 patterns. Which means an electric pole will have either four or five bulbs, each of which is 24 watts. The Corporation has decided to go in for the energy-saving bulbs in large numbers after it experimented with the bulbs on Chennimalai Road, opposite the Erode Railway Station. Corporation Engineer P.
