EU has car CO2 deal with Korea, talks with Japan

The European Commission has secured agreement from South Korean carmakers on a voluntary scheme to cut pollution, but a similar deal with Japan is yet to be finalised, a Commission spokesman said. "We're basically there with South Korea," said Jochen Kubosch, spokesman for acting EU Industry Commissioner Martin Bangemann. "We're still talking with Japan because it's a little more complex to get an equivalent accord."
