EU still suffering serious ozone pollution - report

  • 12/10/1999

Citizens in most European Union countries were exposed to dangerous levels of the harmful gas ozone during the summer of 1999,according to data released by the European Commission yesterday. The situation was particularly severe in Italy and Greece as well as a zone running between Britain, the Benelux countries and northern France. The report reflects the findings of previous studies showing severe ozone hot spots across the continent. Air was found to be cleanest in Ireland and the Nordic region.
