Euro MPs accused of bowing to industry pressure over Auto-oils

Environmental campaigners have roundly criticised MEPs for failing to take a tough enough stand on proposed new air quality targets for the Union. A coalition of consumer protection, health and green groups have accused the European Parliament's environment committee of bowing to pressure from industry in deciding to give southern European countries a series of opt-outs from the "Auto-Oil" programme, designed to cut car pollution across the Union.
