Eviction drive fails to make much headway

While the Kohikode district administration has launched yet another eviction drive in the city and nearby areas to clear National Highways and PWD roads of encroachments, the success of the initiative has been limited so far. The ongoing drive, supervised by a monitoring committee headed by District Collector, has succeeded in removing a large number of hoardings, name boards and banners which obstructed traffic. But the effects of the action are short-lived at many places as pull-cart sellers, street vendors and a large number of shops are invading the roads with renewed vigour.
