Expand irrigation facilities in backward areas: Kansotia

Hoshanganbad: JN Kansotia, Commissioner of Narmadapuram division, today instructed the officials of Water Resources Department to prepare projects of irrigation schemes in backward areas with no irrigation facilities. In a meeting of WRD officers in commissioner office on Thursday, he said that positive efforts should be made by the department in the direction of providing irrigation facilities to farmers in backward areas. Kansotia stressed on realising dues of irrigation taxes from the farmers. He said that a drive should be launched soon to realise the due tax. Camps should be organised on rural level to make realisation. He told Chief Engineer to take action against the field officials in whose areas the percentage of realisation is less. Meanwhile, the commissioner reviewed progress of work of approved and proposed irrigation projects of the department. He was told that work of Silwani lift water irrigation project of Hoshangabad district would be completed before the end of month June. This project would help to irrigate 366 ha area. Similarly, the commissioner was also apprised of pitching work at Vivekanand Ghat. He said that he would like to inspect works himself. He also reviewed work progress Motidhana Maru reservoir in Ramali Sanwaria, Dulargarh, Bhunghati, Seewanpat, Hathikund, Baghnala, Badaldoh, Chandora, Mudalda of Beutl district. He also instructed officers of the department to send letter for allotting budget for Modhia and upper Jawara projects.
