Expenditure panel approves 7 projects

The Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) of the Delhi government has given its nod to seven projects worth Rs 347 crores. The approved projects include four of the PWD department and one each to power, land and building and Irrigation and flood control departments.
Delhi finance minister A.K. Walia stated that Rs 126.18 crores have been sanctioned for a sub-station at Mundka. "The project has been approved with an aim to meet the increased power requirements in areas of west Delhi as well as to provide supply to the Metro for their extension route in west Delhi near Mundka. It will also facilitate the development work of the industrial area at Swarn Park in Udyog Nagar," said Dr Walia.
He added that the project will be executed on turn-key basis within 24 months.
The EFC has also cleared a proposal of the PWD for construction of road overbridges (ROB) and road underbridges (RUB) in the Nand Nagri area, with an estimated cost of Rs 107 crores.
"The project will be executed within 30 months after award of tender. A ROB and RUB at this railway crossing is essential for free movement of the traffic. Separate bus route will also be constructed to improve bus transport facilities," said Dr Walia.
He further stated that the EFC has sanctioned an amount of Rs 89.03 crores for the construction of an RUB at railway-level crossing between Shalimar Bagh and Azadpur Fruit Mandi. It will stop congestion of the heavy volume of traffic.
Dr Walia further informed that the EFC has also approved Rs 9.67 crores for widening of 600-metre eastern approach road of ISBT bridge from three lanes to four lanes. "The project will be completed within 21 months. The committee has also given its nod for the construction of 1,300-metre service road along with eastern approach road, side drain and footpath on IT park of the Metro, with an estimated cost of Rs 4.66 crores.
Dr Walia further stated that an amount of Rs 7.46 crores has been sanctioned for revamping of Najafgarh drain from Amberahi bridge to Kakraula bridge.
