The need for urban regeneration with a human face in which the poor and the marginalized are given a chance to better their lot through access to low-cost housing and employment projects came through in the international conference on urban renewal in Mumbai. The renewal of cities must be comprehensive. It must include public, private and community partnership, create jobs and housing opportunities for the poor.
