For a city reeling under air pollution caused by the ever increasing number of motor vehicles, experts have called for steps to minimise travel by developing self-containing pockets for work, education and leisure. This initiative will help cut the travel demand of urban population which will result in reduced per capita use of public and private transport and thus, reduce pollution. Moreover, the layout of such development should encourage the use of non-motorised vehicles such as bicycles.
