Experts disagreed on Saturday over whether the emergency is a false alarm. The levels of bugs, callled cruptosporidium and giardia, in the most recent water samples tested were "as high as you would find in pure raw sewage, probably higher," said Dr Jerry Ongerth of the department of civil engineering at the University of New South Wales.Dr Ongerth said those results are 'not believable at face value."
