The Rs 493-crore Ranney well water supply scheme, which is running several months behind schedule, has got a boost with the decision of the Faridabad MC authorities to seek a loan of around Rs 103 crore for expediting the project. The five-year-old project is likely to be completed by year-end. The loan was being sought from an agency like HUDCO as paucity of funds was one of the reasons for delaying completion of the water supply scheme, revealed Anil Mehta, Executive Engineer (JNNURM), Municipal Corporation, Faridabad (MCF). The Ranneywell project, which was expected to be completed by December 31, 2013, had got delayed due to various reasons, including a shortage of funds. The availability of drinking water after the completion of the project was expected to be 398 MLD, which would be more than the demand ranging between 250 and 270 MLD, claimed R. Bansal, who was earlier looking after water supply in Faridabad.
