PURI: The district agriculture department will soon launch a massive awareness programme to enlighten the farmers about the new agriculture policy of the government which provides a number of incentives and subsidies to purchase seeds, agriculture equipment and machineries.
Central and State Government schemes like Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Rastriya Krushi Vikas Yojna (RKVY), National Food Security (NFS) and Commercial Agricultural Enterprise (CAE) are being implemented in the district to uplift the economic condition of the farmers by encouraging them to cultivate cash crops like pulses, groundnut and sunflower, said deputy director of agriculture Bhubanananda Swain.
Meanwhile, the agriculture department is identifying farmers, whose crops were damaged or washed away during recent floods, to distribute the compensation against the crop loss.
