An incident has been reported where in the Subrahmanya forest department staff destroyed the areca garden of B K Janardhan, a former residing at Kadya of Madappadi village, citing illegal encroachment of forest as the cause. There are quite a large number of Forest encroachment cases in North Kanara district, Mangalore. A massive protest was held last month against their eviction.
