The fund-starved Himachal Pradesh government is seriously pursuing the proposal to carry out green fellings. The proposal had run into rough weather following the ruling of the Supreme Court that "silvicultural removals" will be allowed in accordance with forest working plans only if the state concerned allocates a separate budget for the regeneration of the felled area.
