3 forest personnel suspended: Mr. Manoj kumar Sarcar, District Forest Officer (DFO), Tirunelveli division, has placed under suspension three forest department staff, including a Forester, in connection with the mass felling of trees, including teak trees, in the Vallam forest beat of the Courtallam range in the last four months. According to Forest department sources, four persons were taken into custody a few days ago on charge of felling two teak trees worth Rs. 8,000 during last month in the Vallam forest beat and they were fined Rs. 80,000 together. They were released after the payment of fine.
