Khammam, July 20: Keeping the demand in the district for fertilisers in view, the government decided to send a consignment of 2,500 tonnes. The District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB) is selling the fertilisers to farmers through its primary agricultural cooperative societies. The DCCB so far sold fertilisers worth of Rs 8 crore to farmers in the district and all the stock is over within a month. The farmers are approaching the concerned PACS for the fertilisers. The increasing demand for urea and potassium fertilisers forced the DCCB to take quich action. The DCCB wants to do another Rs 2 crore business with it and the bank is getting income by the sale. DCCB general manager, Mr T.V. Ramana Murthy said, "Scarcity of fertilisers would be solved after receiving the consignment." He said that the Bank would receive it in a day or two. Earlier, Markfed used to supply fertilisers to the DCCB apart selling it through its own shops. But this year, Markfed supplied fertilisers to the private dealers and made profit. Because of it, Markfed is unable to supply sufficient fertilisers to the DCCB.
