The Indian Space Research Organisation will on November 7 kick off the first of a series of discussions among Indian scientists on a proposal for India's first manned space mission. Nearly 60 scientists from across the country have been invited for what ISRO is calling a preliminary informal meeting to ascertain from scientists whether they want an exclusively Indian mission to put a man in space. Apart from scientists from ISRO itself, the meeting will feature experts from the Department of Science and Technology, the Physical Research Laboratory, the National Physical Laboratories, the National Aerospace Laboratories, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics and the Indian Institute of Science, ISRO officials said.
