Fisheries Federation to launch three schemes for fishermen

Fisheries Federation will launch three new schemes soon for fishermen and their families. Besides, more efforts will be undertaken to increase fish production by the Federation. This information was given by Fisheries Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi at the 68th review meeting of working committee of the State Fisheries Federation. Principal Secretary Fisheries Smt. Ajita Bajpai Pandey and Federation's MD Smt. Veena Ghanekar were also present on the occasion. Shri Ajay Vishnoi informed that keeping larger interests of fishermen in view, Machhua Swasthya Card Yojna will soon be introduced. Machhua Swasthya Card will be issued to every fisherman's family working in the Federation's reservoirs. Doctors will examine health of fishermen by organising camp in their localities once a month. Another scheme to be introduced will be giving financial assistant for the treatment of serious diseases. under this scheme, fishermen and their families will be extended financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 20 thousand for the treatment of cancer, kidney and heart ailments and other serious diseases. Similarly, Shiksha Protsahan Yojna will also be launched under which fishermen's daughters passing class VIII exam in first and second division will be given prizes worth Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 respectively. Similarly, prizes worth Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 will also be given to girls and boys respectively on passing class XII exam in first division. Shri Vishnoi asked officers to get busy with achievement of targets for the current fiscal right from now. He expressed satisfaction over achievements made in the year 2010-11 as compared to the year 2009-10. Shri Vishnoi apprised himself of Sports Fisheries Scheme in Kerwa Reservoir in Bhopal and instructed to speed it up. He informed that last year the average daily income of a fisherman was Rs. 137, which has increased by 74 percent and now stands at Rs. 239. Shri Vishnoi also reviewed Nav-Jaal Praday Yojna (Boat-Net Supply Scheme) and Accident Insurance Scheme. He instructed to make necessary amendment in the rules of Puruskar Protsahan Yojna for Fishermen and Fishermen's Cooperative Societies. At the meeting, Shri Ajay Vishnoi also discussed revised pay scale (sixth pay scale) for the employees of Federation, Voluntary Retirement Scheme, new set-up etc. with officers and issued necessary instructions. Compliance report of the last meeting held in February was also reviewed at the meeting. Earlier, Shri Vishnoi also inaugurated renovated conference hall on the premises of Fisheries Federation, inspected the hatchery and undertook plantation. Director, Fisheries, Dr. U.K. Purohit, members of the committee and officers were also present on the occasion.
