For 13 years, the Government has been pumping huge sums of money into the Peechi Reservoir Fisheries Project, thinking it was helping tribal and Scheduled Caste families in the area. Instead, non-SC/ST people and poachers have been having the run of the reservoir.So lopsided have been the benefits that the SC/ST Reservoir Fisheries Co-operative, Peechi, which has had exclusive fishing rights for the 1,500 hectare area since 1985, today lacks basic equipment.
