Villagers surviving on contaminated water Noted youth leader Biswa Ranjan Mallick on Sunday alleged that the State Government has turned apathetic in providing relief to the flood-affected people of the Bari area in Jajpur district. After visiting most of the marooned areas of Bari block, Mallik told reporters that the affected people were yet to receive food items, medicine and drinking water and the cattle were living without any fodder. “I visited flood-hit people in as many as 29 gram panchayats. The situations everywhere are grim. Relief materials are yet to reach the people and most of the people are surviving on contaminated flood waters as drinking water sources have been inundated,” Mallick said. He urged the Government to provide food, medicine and cattle feed to the people as soon as possible.
