Flood inundates vast area in Faridpur

A vast area in Faridpur Sadar upazilla situated on the river bank Padma were inundated with rise of water level in the river during last two days. According to official sources, four villages of Aliabad union on the outskirts of the district town were inundated when flood water entered the Gadadhar Dangi, East Aliabad, Sadipur and Bhajandanga. Sadar upazilla nirbahi officer Kamruzzaman Selim visited the affected area on Tuesday. Chairman of Aliabad union, Golam Faruk Dablu, said a vast area of four villages had already submerged resulting closure of three government primary schools as flood water entered in the class rooms. About one thousand families had already affected and if water continued to raise more areas would come under the threat of inundation causing miseries to more people, the chairman said. People of this area from past experiences were trying to save themselves from the wrath of flood by stacking sand bags on the onrush points, he added.
