Flood situation remains grim

The flood situation continued to be grim in the state with 29 districts and more than 25 lakh people badly affected by it.
With 10 more deaths reported in the past two days, the toll in flood and rain-related incidents rose to 123.
All major rivers were flowing above the danger mark at several places.
According to reports, the National Disaster Response Force was deployed at Gonda and Shahjahanpur districts for rescue and relief works while the flood divison of PAC was deployed at the 27 other flood-affected districts.
The state government is running 230 relief camps in which 65,000 flood victims have taken shelter.
So far, 80,000 people have been shifted to safer places in the flood-affected districts.
Besides, 130 camps have been opened to take care of animals. More than 65,000 animals have been given shelter in these camps.
The worst affected districts include Barabanki, Bahraich, Gonda, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bijnor and Farrukhabad. Out of 31,68 flood affected villages, 800 are submerged by the water.
According to officials, 270 medical teams had been deployed in the flood-affected areas to provided medical care to the victims and take preventive measures to check spread of epidemic.
More than 70,000 people have been provided medical treatment so for while 7,15,312 animals have been vacinated.
The flood has affected 3.49 lakh hectare agricultural area.
Meanwhile, major rivers were flowing above danger mark. The Ganga was flowing above danger mark at Kanpur and Ballia while the Ramganga was above the red mark at Dabri in Shahjahanpur.
The Sharda was flowing above danger level mark at Paliakalan in Lakhimpur Kheri and Ghaghra at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya in Faizabad and Turtipar in Ballia district.
The Kuano was also flowing above danger mark at Chandradeep Ghat in Gonda district.
