A five-day international conference on "Groundwater for Sustainable Development: Problems, Perspectives and Challenges" opened at India International Centre in New Delhi. Organised jointly by the School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, KTH Sweden and SEARCH Foundation, the conference underlined the fact that availability of fresh water was going to become the most pressing problem in India in the coming decades.
