In an attempt to face a possible food scarcity in the country next year, Cabinet has decided to set up a Presidential Task Force to promote local foods. Agriculture Minister Maithripala Sirisena said it is speculated that there will be scarcity of food supply in the country by next year as India, Pakistan and various other Asian countries have decided to stop exporting their food stocks to other countries. "When the SAARC Agriculture Ministers met in India recently it was revealed that most South Asian countries will stop exporting food items to other countries as they too are expecting an inadequate food supply due to various reasons. We will have a serious problem if we do not promote the local food industry as 60 percent of our food supply comes from foreign countries,' he added.Minister noted that under the
