Quite flows the river Arvari in the middle of the Aravallis in Thana Gazi tehsil of Alwar district in Rajasthan. The river was created by the people of the area. There was only a dry river bed most of the year. The river, or the poor apology of it, appeared during only the monsoons. Now the Arvari river, the whole sheet of shining water is there for all 12 months of the year. A perennial river has been created thanks to the pioneering work of the Alwar based NGO, Tarun Bharat Singh (TBS), which helped the villagers of the Hamirpur in the tehsil to build a johad (check dam) to conserve water. This was three years back and lot of water has flown down the Arvari since then.
