The procedural bottlenecks coming in the way of speedy environmental clearances to industrial projects on account of the restrictive provisions of the Forest conservation Act of 1980 are proposed to be simplified.The modalities are being worked out by the Ministry of environment and forests in consultation with the state governments. The recommendations of the four official committees which were set up to review the existing forest policy are also being examined in this regard.
