There are many issues that cry for the attention of the parlimentary committee on environment and forests. The foremost being the continuing depredation of the mining industry. The Mineral Foundation has been unable or unwilling to address the issue of the large-scale siltation of water bodies and the continuing menace of dust pollution. While some attention has been focussed on coal dust pollution, there seem to be virtually a fatalistic acceptance of mining ore dust pollution perhaps because like alcohol it has been on the scene for a long time...editorial
