Union forest and environment ministry has drawn up an ambitious plan to bring at least 3 per cent of the land in the country under forest cover by 2020 and also to increase biomass production for power generation in the future.Under this plan, 40 million hectare(MHa) of land will be considered for plantation in 20 years at the rate of two MHa per annum in various parts of the country, Institute of Forest Genetic and Tree Breeding director Dr K Subramanian, said .
