The Punjab Forest Department has decided to launch a massive programme to increase the forest cover in the state. Mr. Surjit Kumar Jyanti, Forest and Wildlife Minister, said here today that during the past few years the state had consistently shown an increase in its forest cover. During 2001-2002, an area of 10,000 hectares would bee brought under the programme.
