The efforts of the Mumbai high court and environmentalists to curb deforestation in the ecologically sensitive Mahabaleshwar-panchgani plateau are meeting with little success. This is because the forest and revenue departments have not bothered to implement the measures recommedned by the Bombay Environmental Action Group (BEAG) to protect the tree cover and boost conservation in the plateau.
