The Sri Lankan Forest Department is yet to take action against the construction of four hotels in the Knuckles Conservation, which had refused to suspend the construction despite the warnings by the Department. Four hotels are being constructed in the Pitawala, Pathana area of the Knuckles forest conservation on a land area of nearly 100 acres by two private companies and two individuals. Private land owners of Knuckles, a group of owners who had lost their lands in 1998 due to the take over of lands for the Knuckles forest conservation were alleged to be behind the constructions.
