In an effort to green some of Delhi's most barren areas the Delhi Government's forest department has undertaken an ambitious afforestation project. The department is planting saplings on a 50-acre plot of highly acidic and saline soil in west Delhi after experimental saplings planted last year survived on a six acre salty patch.
